Mikkeller

I have GOT to find an English translation of the ingredients on the label of this Mikkeller Imperial Stout.  There is something in it that absolutely must go into the next batch of Sarcastic Doorman.

Anyone know what "cassanade" is?  Apparently it can be dark...

  1. "Cassonade" is the French word for unrefined sugar, which we commonly call "brown sugar" here in North America. Whether or not that's what's in there, I don't know.

  2. I assume that must be it. I haven't found their spelling in any dictionary so far, though they seem to be very consistent about using it.

  3. From what I can find, it appears to be a relatively unrefined brown sugar, but the word doesn't appear in any current Danish dictionary on line. However, there is a French word, "cassonade", which can mean soft, brown sugar.
